The supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been hospitalized after fracturing three ribs in fall at court. She also was hospitalized after a bad reaction to medicine in 2009.

According to a news release from Supreme Court Public Information Officer Kathleen L. Arberg, Ginsburg fell in her office on Wednesday evening, but was apparently feeling well enough afterward to go home.

The 85-year-old justice, a heroine for liberals, has vowed not to retire while President Donald Trump is in office.

Ginsburg has had a series of health problems. The same thing happened in 2012, when she broke two ribs and then went right back to work the next day despite being in pain. President Trump is among the dignitaries planning to attend the ceremony at the court.

Many female Democratic House candidates who prevailed on Election Day ran in opposition to Trump or his policies. Democrats Rashida Tlaib of MI and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota will be the first Muslim women to serve in Congress.

Ginsburg has survived bouts with colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014. The court won't hear arguments again until November 26. Broken ribs typically heal on their own in six weeks to a month, and patients are advised to limit strenuous activity.

Ginsburg told CNN in July that she thought she had "at least five more years" left before she retired from the Supreme Court.
