HMD launches the Android Pie sporting Nokia 8.1

HMD chief Juho Sarvikas said that the Nokia 8.1 is the direct successor to the Nokia 7 Plus and the company's newest premium affordable smartphone.

Australian availability of the Nokia 8.1 is unclear at the moment, Nokia has brought most but not all of their recent devices onto the Australian Market. Luckily Chetan Cale, a gifted photographer and member of Nokia Community, was there to take some shots with it.

Nokia 8.1 will go on sale starting mid-December in the European and Middle Eastern markets.

The company is touting its Bothie feature, which allows both the front and rear camera to used simultaneously, as well as its Pro Camera UI, with several manual camera options. It features a single speaker design, and also comes with a smart amp, 2 mics, and Nokia Ozo surround capture. Up at the front, housed on the notch alongside an earpiece and other sensors, is a large 20MP selfie shooter.

At the heart of the Nokia 8.1, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, clubbed with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. On the rear side, the handset boasts of dual camera setup comprising of 12-megapixel autofocus sensor with f/1.8 aperture along with a 5-megapixel sensor. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The secondary sensor will offer depth sensing. The dual-camera module features OIS, EIS, and dual LED flash. As with all Nokia smartphones in the Android One programme, you'll get more battery and storage space out of the box thanks to a carefully curated set of pre-loaded apps. In the connectivity zone, Nokia 8.1 can be expected to offer 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac with VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty is ready to get to work
