White House chief of staff John Kelly expected to resign soon

Donald Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly will quit his role within days after falling out with the president, it was claimed.

Speaking to reporters earlier Friday, Trump hinted an announcement related to the Joint Chiefs of Staff was forthcoming as he unveiled other picks. Kelly did not make an announcement about his plans, and Trump, in his remarks at the gathering, was very gracious to him, the person said. Nick Ayers, the vice president's chief of staff, is seen as a leading candidate. In recent months, the chief of staff's power has ebbed, with administration policies and decisions being guided more by the president's gut instincts than by Kelly's processes.

Stock markets will close on Wednesday to honor George H.W. Bush
Bush wasn't well enough to attend the event, so Mulroney paid the former president a visit at home before the ceremony. Trump, who will be in attendance , will designate this upcoming Wednesday, Dec. 5, a national day of mourning.

The special counsel's team questioned Kelly specifically on an episode involving Trump after the New York Times reported that previous year Trump sought to fire Mueller - a report that allegedly drew Trump's ire at then-White House counsel Don McGahn, who didn't publicly deny it.

The moves had always been planned, and will give Kelly's eventual successor room to build a new White House political team.

China promises prompt action on U.S. trade pact
The Washington Post reported, though, that tariffs on USA cars had only been raised earlier this year in response to Trump's trade war escalation.

Compounding the rumors were reports surrounding Kelly taking the day off on Friday, as the president traveled to Missouri. Bolton had criticized Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen during an Oval Office discussion about the border, and Kelly stormed out of the West Wing after their profanity-laced argument spilled over into the hallways.

Kelly, too, has made no secret of the trials of his job and has often joked about how working for Trump was harder than anything he'd done before, including on the battlefield. He was photographed looking grim-faced in the lobby of Trump Tower as the President declared there were "good people" on both sides of the racist violence. He insulted Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Florida, using inaccurate information, later declaring he would "never" apologize.
