The project includes partners such as Acer, Asus, Dell, Google, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Samsung, and many others. In its presentation Intel briefly discussed the likes of 10nm Ice Lake processors, hybrid 10nm Lakefield CPUs, and Project Athena laptops, as well as other non-PC-centric specific stuff like automotive, IoT, sports, AI, networking and 5G, etc.

Intel made several announcements spanning PCs and new devices to diverse growth segments including artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and autonomous driving, at a pre-CES show. However, the company did announce that the chipset is based on the long-awaited 10nm node, and features Sunny Cove architecture.

Ice Lake was both the first and the last thing that Intel talked about. The new platform also paves way for sleeker laptops with extended battery life.

Citizenship Bill row: Meghalaya CM and NPP president to call party meet
He said the BJP is in a hurry to pass the Bill in the Parliament to gain political mileage ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. They were determined to pass the bill so we made a decision to break the alliance", Bora said.

"Including 5G and artificial intelligence, Project Athena creates a path forward to accelerate laptop innovation through: An annual spec outlining platform requirements; new user experience and benchmarking targets defined by real-world usage models; extensive co-engineering support and innovation pathfinding; ecosystem collaboration to accelerate key laptop component development and availability; [and] verification of Project Athena devices through a comprehensive certification process", Intel said at CES. A disabled iGPU could also act as 'dark silicon;' a part of the processor that helps spread heat and thus improve thermal performance. That may be an attempt to reduce costs (as it will allow the chip-maker to sell CPUs with non-functional GPUs) but it will likely also mean these processors run cooler and use less power - and they could be better for overclocking as a result.

Gaming has always been a weak point for Intel, and the company's HD Graphics received only minor updates over the years.

While we've still got a while to wait for Intel's Ice Lake CPUs, the firm also announced new 9th-gen Core processors; though we're still awaiting specifics. Intel says the G11 will offer better framerates, along with other important standards such as HDR and Adaptive Sync. The main characteristics of the new architecture over its predecessor seem to be increased data security and improved single-threaded performance-instructions-per-clock (IPC) in particular.

Historic test series for India ends with a whimper
He said he was really disappointed to lose the Test series and the team felt the absence of a few players (banned Steve Smith and David Warner ).

For years, we have been relying on multiple connectivity ports for charging, data transfer, video output and more. While a number of existing laptops support Thunderbolt 3, Ice Lake will support Thunderbolt over Type-C. Lakefield devices are expected to debut later this year and would naturally fit in the portable device product range somewhere below Intel Ice Lake portables. What's more, it will also support fast charging, that's an added bonus.

The tech giant added that it has begun shipping Cascade Lake Xeon Scalable processors, to be broadly available in the first half of 2019.
