Lexar reveals first commercially available 1TB SD card

If you're serious about photography, chances are you've got a high-end digital camera such as the Nikon D850 and a few 512GB SD cards for high resolution shots and 4K video storage. It's the first 1TB SDXC card to be available on the market.

In fairness to Lexar its been pretty good at driving SD memory card capacity forward, having been the one of first to the market with a 1GB SD card some 15 years ago. Now, it's been beaten to the punch by Lexar's Professional 633x line of SDHC and SDXC UHS-I cards, which have capacities ranging from 16GB up to 1TB. Lexar's new card is available for purchase starting today.

But the services won't be free for everyone, the paper reported: Fees will be assessed on a sliding scale, depending on income. The mayor laid out his agenda after introducing several new initiatives, including a $100 million universal health care plan .

Lexar said in its press release that the card will offer users longer shooting sessions since they won't have to switch cards as often as they used to.

The Class 10 space monster makes use of UHS-1 technology to deliver read speeds of up to 95 MB/s, but the V30/U3 rating only promises a minimum sequential write speed of 30 MB/s. Sadly, this is a full-size SD card, so it's too big for smartphones. With 8K video coming fast larger capacity cards will be a must however V30 might not cut it.
