White House sought military strike against Iran

The request came after militants, reportedly backed by Iran, fired rockets toward the U.S. consulate in Basra and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad's diplomatic green zone in September.

Now, through a report just published by the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz and The Wall Street Journal, a former White House official who worked under the Trump Administration says that the White House had asked the Pentagon for a military plan to attack Iran back in September of past year.

"It definitely rattled people", a former senior US administration official said of the request.

The Pentagon said it provides the president options for a variety of threats. No one was hurt by the shells, which landed in an open lot.

‘Mass Overdose’ in California House Leaves 1 Dead, 12 in the Hospital
A person affiliated with the house where the overdoses occurred called 911 on Saturday morning at around 9:12 a.m local time. Police were blaming a mass overdose in Chico on Fentanyl after one person died and 14 others were hospitalized Saturday.

The Journal, citing conversations with people familiar with the talks, also reported that the council requested options for launching strikes at both Iraq and Syria when they made the request for Iran.

Citing the lack of casualties and limited damage that resulted from the September 6 mortar attack, the US officials whom the Journal spoke to said Bolton's request for a far-reaching military response was jarring.

State Department Secretary Mike Pompeo did not comment on the story when asked about it by reporters and a State Department spokeswoman declined to comment.

He penned a 2015 New York Times opinion piece prior to his current role titled "To stop Iran's bomb, bomb Iran". The Iranians could do plenty of damage to us if they chose to retaliate.

He completed 23 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 128 yards with two touchdowns in his backup role. The outspoken quarterback seemingly made all the moves to be a starting quarterback for an elite program at Ohio State.

In one meeting, Bolton's then deputy Mira Ricardel, who was forced out of her job in November after a feud with First Lady Melania Trump, described the attacks in Iraq as "an act of war" and said the USA had to respond decisively, according to one person familiar with the meeting.

There's no doubt that we could do plenty of damage to Iran if we chose to strike.

That policy could change if Iran continues to threaten its neighbors in the region.

Pompeo said on Friday that the summit, to be held in Warsaw on 13-14 February, would focus on stability and security in the Middle East, including on the "important element of making sure that Iran is not a destabilising influence".
