China condemns Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to disputed region

China's foreign ministry on Saturday condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the disputed northeastern border state of Arunachal Pradesh, saying it "resolutely opposes" activities by Indian leaders in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Chinese side was aware of India's sensibilities regarding the issue.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Modi had no right to visit the state as he has not fulfilled his promise to accord the SCS and various other commitments the Prime Minister had made during the state's bifurcation in 2014.

Later, India issued a strong rebuttal to China's objections, reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh remains "an integral and inalienable part of India".
