Retailers Dillards and Walmart will pull the offending styles, though not the whole line, from its stores after social media backlash, the Post reported.

Today, Katy Perry becomes the latest high-profile person to come under scrutiny related to the use of black face, but in this case for designing a shoe that resembles the racist gesture.

The shoe, which comes in black and beige in both loafer and sandal form, has two eyes, a nose, and a mouth with red lips on the front. However, the black style has critics pointing out the resemblance to classic blackface makeup.

Perry has not publicly commented on the shoes being removed from shelves.

The shoes raised eyebrows and even singer Masika Kalysha noticed them and said, "So we just gonna let Katy Perry slide?"
