Japan might get an awesome new Moon rover built by Toyota

"Having Toyota join us in the challenge of global space exploration greatly strengthens our confidence", Hiroshi Yamakawa, JAXA's president, said in the release.

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda said the project shows confidence in the "durability and driving performance" of the automaker's vehicles and its fuel cell technology for powering electric cars. The six-wheeled vehicle looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, and if we see research stations and even settlements on the Moon in the not-too-distant future, Toyota's fancy rover could become the vehicle of choice.

JAXA and Toyota said March 12 that they plan to send the pressurized, fuel cell-powered vehicle to the moon in 2029 and hope that a Japanese astronaut will use it to lead a lunar mission.

Busch Closes in on History with Phoenix Win
Busch led 177 of the 312 laps that made up the race, taking his final lead when he passed Ryan Blaney with 16 laps remaining. Brad Keselowski, who won at Atlanta two weeks ago, suffered a couple of scrapes with walls and finished 19th.

Toyota's concept vehicle, revealed in a new video and series of images today, will be created to hold two astronauts and runs on solar power and fuel cell technology.

With recent space exploration from China and developments for SpaceX in the U.S., the space race is again hotting up with nations striving to explore further and spend extended times in space and on the surface of the moon.

The automaker realizes only a limited amount of energy can be stored and taken to a moon landing, yet the company claims the lunar rover can would be able to travel more than 6,200 miles on the moon with its power source.

But Lee's proposal could peel off support from at least one of four Republican senators who have said they back the House measure. Vice President Mike Pence , center, accompanied by his Chief of Staff Marc Short, second from left, leaves the U.S.

The rover is planned to be 6 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 3.8 meters high, with a living space of 13 square meters for up to four people, according to their study.

The agreement is meant to promote Japanese technological knowhow.

Toyota's next challenge is out of this world. Furthermore, cars are used in all of Earth's regions, and, in some regions, cars play active roles as partners for making sure that people come back alive. Manned rovers with pressurized cabins are an element that will play an important role in full-fledged exploration and use of the lunar surface. And I think that coming back alive is exactly what is needed in this project. For this, we would like to concentrate our country's technological abilities and conduct technological studies.
