"I said okay." After several days passed by with no progress, Goldberg said she asked her doctors what was going on.

"This is my first foray out, I'm not there yet, I know that, but the only way it's gonna get better is if I begin, so this is my beginning", she explained, still coughing. "This is a cautionary tale for all of us". She said, "I am here, I am up and moving around, not as fast as I'd like to be, but I am okay". "The advocate "said 'I really don't know.' I was like, 'well, this can't be the first time somebody has come in with this". She encouraged people to take their health issues seriously before they spiral into something which could be fatal.

"You think you can push through because you have a little cold, and you think because you've healed before something insane can't happen. Well it could", she said. Goldberg's co-hosts immediately jumped up and corralled her into a group hug - Abby Huntsman even cried!

"Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things people have bee saying".

Watch Goldberg's triumphant return to The View above. "She's actually recovering from pneumonia. She's getting there, she's on the mend".

The 63-year-old EGOT victor said she'd gotten permission to be at the ABC chatfest's studios that day, but that her compromised immune system means that she'll have to "ease back in" to daily hosting duties. "She's not even well enough to host this show right now, let alone the Oscars".

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
